Founded in 1898, the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company capitalized on the industrial revolution in America by expanding beyond tires and entering the business of lighter-than-air balloons and aircraft. This decision ultimately led to the creation of a lasting corporate icon, the Goodyear blimp.
